31st December 2006

In the last update of pointlessness for this year, there's yet another update to The Ghibli List (I've finally seen Spirited Away!) and Misconceptions about the GPL, which addresses some confusion I've been seeing about the GNU General Public License.

29th December 2006

Both Christmas and my birthday (27th December) have now passed by without updates. I didn't feel like updating specifically for either occasion, and they were fairly uneventful anyway.

On the more relevant subject of new articles, I currently have none. I've had several ideas, but haven't been able to get any of them down in text form as of yet. So the update for today will consist of yet another update to The Ghibli List and nothing else, unless I can think of something before I go to bed, which seems unlikely.

23rd December 2006

No new articles today, but, My Applications and the The Ghibli List have been updated, and some fixes/tweaks to the site coding have been completed.

22nd December 2006

The FAQ has now had a minor update to reflect a change in site design, and the XHTML Test Suite has also been uploaded (mostly for myself to test, but feel free to give it go anyway).

21st December 2006

I've updated The Ghibli List today as I get the delivery of a DVD (Kiki's Delivery Service). I'll likely update it further as I get and watch more DVDs. References have also been added to the page (with much of the code lifted straight out of Wikipedia, which showed me a nice way to do it and still have valid XHTML).

Another round of code revisions and rewrites will probably follow soon as I make the code more clean and semantic.

18th December 2006

The licensing agreement at the bottom of this page has been modified and expanded somewhat in the hopes of making it clearer. My understanding of why many people do not use these licences has grown substatially, as usage of them is quite complex and difficult to all fit while keeping somewhat concise. A Brief History of pointlessnes (formerly "A Quick History of pointlessness") and Site Licensing have also been modified.

I originally intended to make more changes than this, but changing the licensing was harder than I thought. The intended updates will probably be up in the next few days.

14th December 2006

I've recently had trouble finding inspiration, hence my lack of updates. However, I recently decided to write about the current flaws in Firefox that are affecting me. Indications are that at least one will be fixed in Firefox 3.0, but there are others.

I've also updated My Applications to express my overall thoughts of the recent Gran Paradiso (Firefox) 3.0 alpha 1.

5th December 2006

Recent tests have indicated that pointlessness does not work with Internet Explorer, despite the presence of the Stupid IE Fix. If I'm not able to find an actual way to make IE work with pointlessness, then it won't work until Microsoft feels the urge to update IE to properly support XHTML.

Additionally, an FAQ page has also been added to the menubar now. Those of you who normally use Internet Explorer may want to read it.

4th December 2006

I decided to make a quick shoutout to the various console manufacturers, about the things they're doing that are worrying or irritating me. I don't have much to say about the Xbox 360, but then it seems no one else does either.

1st December 2006

October articles have now been archived, and the site redesign should now be complete (barring any better solutions to IE compatibility than the Stupid IE Fix) and I have uploaded a new article detailing my newfound hatred of Internet Explorer.

How much I hate Internet Explorer

I also added an index page for all of the test pages. This will be permanently linked in the menubar.
