Some minor updates today. The FAQ has been updated now that I'm 23, the Links page has got an extra link and been changed due to my new coding conventions, and the menubar has finally been updated to comply with the same conventions.

My Favourite Comics updated again. I Drew This (and the associated blog, Bird Brains, which has grown to greater importance than the comic in recent times) has ground to a halt and been officially killed off as a result of the changing political climate (I predict no more than two years before we see a revival) and Loserz is now without a site again, meaning it may finally have died for good.

As you can see, I disappeared over Christmas and the new year. I wasn't really busy, I just couldn't think of anything to say. Archiving is done now though, and there is a new article, simply entitled "Respect". Truth be told, this could easily be titled "The Plesuredome Saga - Respect", though I decided to instead make it a spiritual successor, as I have not returned to the site since my last documented encounter with them. It talks a lot about MisterWhite and the other staff, but primarily uses them to illustrate my unusual definition of respect, and the flaws in their own definition.

After the last entry in The Pleasuredome Saga, I had hoped it was over and I could avoid discussing them again, but it didn't work. A PMed suggestion to join the site from a member of Underground Gamer got me thinking about them again. I'm doing well at UG and going over the saga seems to be teaching me more about myself and the strangeness of others, so it seems it's not all bad. I'd still like to bury the hatchet someday, and would be open to a debate on all of this at a neutral forum, but I doubt either will ever happen. I'll try to write about something different next time.

Actually, to speak of different subjects: My DVD player is finally unlocked and can play region 1 DVDs (thanks to DVD Chips UK), and I have some new stuff here. Rozen Maiden Traumend volume 3 (finally completing my collection), The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (said to be a great anime movie), Paprika (ditto), and Ladyhawke (the first album by the musician of the same name, it's awesome). The last is particularly remarkable as I almost never buy music CDs, the MP3s of the album I got from The Pirate Bay impressed me so much that I bought the CD and ripped it myself as FLACs. It's nice to know there's a new, contemporary musician out there that I actually want to listen to.

Finally, the Minnesota senate election finally seems to decided in favour of Al Franken (and please allow me to congratulate the writer of Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right on his eventual victory), but further controversy has erupted over the filling of Barack Obama's soon-to-be-vacant senate seat. The only thing I have to say about this is that Illinois is clearly still Illinois. The issue of California Proposition 8 is clearly still not over either, meaning I'm going to have to return to politics in a future news post...
